Hit-and-Run May Have Been Suicide Attempt

Video shows man walk into roadway and then lay on the ground before being hit

A man who was killed after being hit by a car might have become a victim on purpose, police think.

Rene Gil, 43, was found dead at the intersection of NW 27th Avenue and 23rd Street in Miami on Wednesday night in what looked like a vicious hit and run. But surveillance video from a nearby store shows Gil acting very strange and placing himself in the path of oncoming traffic.

The Hialeah man can be seen walking into the roadway, then laying down in the street. Then he began rolling around across several lanes of traffic as cars passed by. He was struck by a motorist who may not have even known the man was there.

A witness told WSVN that the man was hitting himself inthe head before he walked in the roadway and was screaming, "Kill me," repeatedly.

Police are still looking for the car that hit Gil, but it's unclear if the driver will face any charges.
