Nearly three months after a traumatic accident that left her hospitalized, one Hollywood woman is getting the gift of help from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Collette Nichols was presented with a new bicycle by the BSO Victim’s Services department Tuesday to replace the one she owned that was destroyed in the September 9th accident.
The 47-year-old was struck by a hit and run driver as she was riding home from Pompano Beach, where she works. Nichols sustained injuries to her head, neck and legs that kept her hospitalized and unable to work.
“In the time frame I’ve been out of work, I’ve been able to be assisted so much,” Nichols said. “I greatly appreciate it.”
The agency also coordinated to have her remaining medical bills paid – something she was unable to do since her only transportation was destroyed. BSO also provided her with food vouchers to help Nichols and her family while she gets back on her feet.
Nichols told the media she is not angry at the driver who hit her - while adding this was the first time she had ever been in the hospital.
