Police have arrested a suspect who they say sexually assaulted a woman during a burglary at her Hollywood home earlier this month.

Andre Brian McGriff, 35, was arrested just before 3 a.m. Friday in connection with the Jan. 11 sexual assault and a separate Dec. 4 burglary, Hollywood Police said.

He faces charges including sexual battery, burglary with assault or battery, petty theft, false imprisonment and lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim between 12 and 16.

Officials said there were a series of break-ins in the past couple months in early morning hours in the area between Dixie and Federal highways, from Pembroke Road north to Washington Street.

According to an arrest report, during the Dec. 4 burglary, McGriff touched a 13-year-old girl's privates and took photos of her nude.

Police say DNA evidence collected at crime scenes led to the identification of McGriff.

"The safety of our residents is our top priority. I am proud of all the work done by our department; from the officers who conducted surveillance operations to our detectives and crime scene technicians who worked diligently to identify the suspect," acting Police Chief Chris O’Brien said in a statement.

McGriff was being held without bond Friday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
