The Hollywood Police Department is looking for a new top cop after Chief Frank Fernandez announced his resignation.
Chief Fernandez took over the department in August 2013. The city manager confirmed Wednesday that Fernandez is taking a job with the city of Coral Gables, but the exact position is not known.
The Hollywood Police Department has been troubled in past few years, from dozens of forgotten rape kits to thousands of dollars missing from an evidence vault.
Fernandez's final day will be May 15. No word yet when an interim chief will be named.
