Hollywood Police Looking for Attempted Abductor

Hollywood Police released a sketch of a man they said unsuccessfully tried to abduct two women Friday by putting a sheet over the victims’ head and then trying to drag the victim to an alley.

The attempted abductor tried to grab his first victim around 6:30 Friday morning on the 1900 block of Funston Street in Hollywood.

“A female who was approached from behind, had a shirt thrown over her head and was told not to make any noise, then the subject attempted to drag the victim to the alley,” said Lt. Derik Alexander of the Hollywood Police Department.

The abduction was interrupted by a car that was driving down the street. The driver of the car stopped to help the victim and the abductor ran away. Police said around 15 minutes later, the alleged abductor struck again.

Detectives said the second attempted abduction was on South 21st Avenue. Police said the M.O. was the same, “approached the victim from behind, covered her head with a sheet,” Alexander said. The difference with the second attempted abduction was it was of a juvenile.

Hollywood Police said the attempted abductor is about 30-years-old, 5’7” to 5’9” in height, between 130 and 140 pounds, with a full beard, wearing black pants, shirt, baseball hat, and jeans.

If you have any information about the man, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
