Hollywood Woman Charged in Stabbing Death of 76-Year-Old Mother

Murder charge for woman in mother's stabbing death

A Hollywood woman is facing murder and kidnapping charges in the brutal stabbing death of her 76-year-old mother.

Patricia Brennan, 51, was being held without bond Friday following an appearance before Judge John Hurley. It was unknown whether she has an attorney.

According to the arrest report read in court by Hurley, Brennan's mother died Tuesday, 10 days after the alleged stabbing.

Officers responded to a home in the 1800 block of N. 38th Avenue on May 18 and found the mother sitting on a lawn chair at a neighbor's house in a blood-stained night gown with blood coming from her mid section, Hurley said.

The mother told officers she's been stabbed by her daughter the night before and had been held against her will but was able to escape to the neighbor after her daughter fell asleep, Hurley said.

Brennan's mother had multiple stab wounds in her abdomen from a butcher's knife, multiple bruises, and had been beaten and struck on the back of a head with a bottle, Hurley said. Blood was found on the walls and bedroom of the home, Hurley said.

She was hospitalized and later taken to Hospice By the Sea on May 26, before passing away on Tuesday, Hurley said.
