A 13-year-old Pembroke Pines boy who was home alone hid in the closet and called police as two burglars who were caught on surveillance camera ransacked his home.

Police are searching for the two suspects, who broke into the home in the Cinnamon Place community near 88th Way and Southwest 14th Avenue around 1 p.m. Sunday.

According to Pembroke Pines Police, the suspects knocked on the door of the home but the boy didn't open the door after looking through the peep hole and not recognizing them.

The suspects then walked to the back of the home, where they smashed through a sliding glass door to get inside. The teen went upstairs, locked himself in a closet and called police.

Both suspects ransacked the home and broke into the bedroom where the teen was hiding.

The boy's mother saw the two suspects on her phone through the home's cameras but thinking they might be her son's friends, tried to contact him on his phone. At the same time, he was on the phone with police.

Officers arrived on scene within two minutes of being dispatched but the suspects had already fled the scene. The officers found the boy, who was unharmed.

Police described the suspects as black males, between 16 and 19 years old, about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7 with thin builds and short dreads. Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call police at 954-431-2225.
