The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 in the 500 block of 44th Street, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The husband and wife, along with their 8-month-old and 4-year-old, were sleeping in their home when the husband woke up to a strange noise outside and went into the kitchen to investigate. When he opened the door, he was immediately struck in the face with a revolver and fell to the floor, detectives said.

The robber dragged the bleeding victim to the bedroom where the family was sleeping, detectives said. He pointed the gun at the children and threatened to kill everyone if the couple didn't give him money, the mother told NBC 6.

The robber got away with some cash and an iPhone, according to BSO.

Detectives released a sketch of the robber, who's described as a tall adult male with a dark complexion and a goatee. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
