Homeowner Fatally Shoots Attempted Burglar in North Lauderdale

A North Lauderdale homeowner is not facing charges after shooting and killing a would-be intruder in the overnight hours Friday.

According to deputies with the Broward County Sheriff's Office, someone attempted to break into the home in the 8100 block of SW 11th Street just after 3 a.m. That's when the homeowner retrieved a gun, and shot and killed the intruder.

Three people live in the home, including a child. The family were all inside the home at the time of the attempted break-in.

Police have not yet released specific details on the incident, but they do indicate that no one inside the home was injured, and that the homeowner is not facing any charges.
