Homestead Couple Stole Mortgage, Rental Payments: Miami-Dade Police

A husband and wife are facing charges after authorities say they used their South Florida real estate business to steal mortgage and rental payments.

Gabriela Salguero, 43, and Frank Perugorria, 22, both from Homestead, are charged with organized scheme to defraud, Miami-Dade Police said Monday.

Salguero and Perugorria weren't listed in jail records and it was unknown if they have attorneys.

Police said the pair used their corporation, Real Estate Connection, to act as property managers for foreign investors but kept the victim's mortgage payments causing the properties to go into foreclosure.

They also acted as brokers for local renters, showing properties to victims and accepting deposits and keeping the money, police said.

Police have identified at least nine victims but are asking for help in locating other victims who haven't come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
