Homestead Parks Director Resigns After Sexting

Parks director claims he fears for his safety

Looks like the sexting craze has taken down another man.

Homestead Parks Director Robert Landen resigned from his post Monday after he was recently caught sending sexually explicit and racially offensive text messages to several women on his city-issued Blackberry.

The resignation comes on the heels of former City Manager Mike Shehadeh being fired for sexting on the job with a city employee on his Blackberry.

His resignation letter actually claims Landen's family has received threats and he called his job "unsafe." There is no mention of the sex texts in the resignation letter.

"Due to these threats, I feel it is unsafe and may potentially pose danger to myself and my family if I continue employment with the City of Homestead. For this reason, I regret that I am unable to give a two week notice," Landen wrote.

Usually regular text messaging charges apply, but for Landen, his texts cost him an annual salary of $107,000.

An investigation showed the 25-year city employee was using the Blackberry on city time as he flirted with co-workers and forwarded racially charged jokes.

Here was one found among the thousands of texts

"Fwd: Fwd: OMG!! Ur not going to believe this (EXPLETIVE) !!! I got a tattoo of a n------ on my shoulder, and now my (expletive) arm quit workin!" it read.
