A list of this year's events for Art Week

Art Basel Miami Beach is just one of many art fairs organized for this week. Check out this rundown, which includes Basel and non-Basel happenings this week:

  • Aqua Art Miami 2013: This fair is known for  bringing international art, young and established galleries, emerging and mid-career artists. The fair runs from Dec. 4-8 at 1530 Collins Avenue Miami Beach, FL.
  • Art Miami: Showcases work of the 20th and 21st centuries.  It will go on from Dec.3-8 at 3101 NE 1st Ave, Miami, FL.
  • Brazil Art Fair: This fair promotes Brazilian artists and galleries. It will run from Dec. 4-8 at 3501 NE Midtown Boulevard.
  • Context Art Miami: Sister fair to Art Miami. Focuses on emerging and mid-career artists. Runs from Dec. 3-8 at 3201 NE 1st Avenue, Miami, FL.
  • Design Miami: Brings together collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics. Runs from Dec. 4-8 at Meridian Avenue & 19th Street, Miami Beach, FL.
  • Ink Miami Art Fair: Focuses on contemporary works on paper by internationally renowned artists. It will be from Dec. 4-8 at 1850 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL.
  • Miami Project: This fair showcases contemporary and modern art. It will run from Dec.3-8 at NE 29th Street and NE 1st Avenue, Miami, FL.
  • NADA Art Fair: This fair showcases the world’s youngest and strongest art galleries dealing with emerging Contemporary Art.It will be at 6701 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL.
  • Pulse Art Fair: Various galleries from around the world. It will be from Dec. 5-8 at 1400 North Miami Avenues, Miami, FL.
  • Scope Art Fair: This fair will have about 100 international exhibitors.  It will run from Dec. 3-8 at 9th Ave and Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL.
  • Untitled Art Fair: Runs from Dec.4-8 at Ocean Drive and 12th Street, Miami Beach, FL.

Art Basel Miami Beach will have plenty of events this week, below a list of various events:

Wednesday Dec. 4:

-Art Basel film event “Shuffle Notes – Beauty in Danger.” The film will be free to the public and it will take place at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

-Art Basel Public opening night will have free public access. Location: Collins Park, 2100 Collins Ave, Miami Beach from 8:30p.m. to 10 p.m.

-Art Basel Film “New Dream Machine and Other Films” will be shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Pre-sale exhibition of 20th Century Decorative Arts and Design and Ettore Sottsass: Important Works from a Private Collection during Miami Art Week 2013. The exhibition will be open to the public daily at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3 – Dec. 5.

- ELLE DECOR Modern Life Concept House will be at Miami Beach’s Sunset Island II. Tickets $35 per person. Public areas open Dec.4- Dec.8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Dec.14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For location and ticketing information, visit ElleDecor.com/MLCH.

-Benjamin Edelstein will be showcasing his work at the Red Dot Art Fair at Wynwood Art District from Dec. 3 to Dec.8.

- Beyond Snowdome: The MCM Collection By Craig & Karl will take place at the Soho Beach House Tiki Garden Dec. 4 from 3p.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursday Dec. 5:

-Multimedia artist Doug Aitken will kick off Art Basel’s morning Conversations, where he will discuss his most recent project “Station to Station.” The one-hour panel discussion will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. The event is from 10 am to 11:30am at the Hall C auditorium.

- Art Basel: The Premier International Art Show will be available to those with Art Basel VIP card or ticket. The premier will take place at the MBCC, Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach from noon to 8 p.m.

- Art Basel Film “Tango at the Edge of the Fair” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

-Art Basel Film “Arabesque and Reanimation: Dara Birnbaum and Joan Jonas” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Friday Dec. 6:

-A panel of curators and museum directors will talk about the benefits and pitfalls of going global during the second Art Basel morning Conversation. Speakers include Patrick Charpenel, Director, Fundación Jumex, Mexico City; Chris Dercon, Director, Tate Modern, London; Chus Martinez, Chief Curator at El Museo del Barrio, New York; Alexandra Munroe, Samsung Senior Curator, Asian Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. The event is from 10 am to 11:30am at the Hall C auditorium.

- Art Basel Film “An Elegy for Voice and Silence” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

- Art Basel Feature Film: “Nan Goldin – I Remember Your Face” (2013) by Sabine Lidl will be free to the public and shown at Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach at 8:30 p.m.

- Art Basel Film “Farewell to the Past: Yinka Shonibare MBE” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

-Art Basel Film “Prelude to a Syncopation” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Saturday Dec. 7:

-'The Artist and the Gallerist' Conversation event will explore the relationship between artists and their representing galleries. Panelists include Abraham Cruzvillegas, Artist, Mexico City; Monica Manzutto and Jose Kuri, founders of kurimanzutto gallery, Mexico City. The event is from 10 am to 11:30am at the Hall C auditorium.

-Art Basel Film “Fantasia for Dissonant Harmonies” will be free to the public and shown at Soundscape Park, 500 17th Street, Miami Beach from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Sunday Dec. 8:

-Sunday’s morning Conversation will bring together artists whose work is related to current developments in technology and digital mediums. The event is from 10 am to 11:30am at the Hall C auditorium.
