Police are investigating after a human skull was found in a wooded area in west Miami-Dade Tuesday.
The skull was discovered in Medley in the area near Northwest 122nd Street and 115th Avenue, according to Medley Police.
Police said Santeria paraphernalia was also found near the skull, and that it may have been used as part of a ritual.
No other body parts were located during a search of the area, police said.
Homicide detectives were at the scene Tuesday to investigate and Miami-Dade Police are taking over the investigation.
A final identification of the skull will be made by the medical examiner's office, police said.
