Virginia Dominates Hurricanes

The Hurricanes were no match for the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday in their 30-7 loss

The Miami Hurricanes suffered an embarrassing 30-13 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday in Charlottesville, Virgnia.

Things started out well for Miami with a 7-0 lead in the first quarter but that would be the only high point on the day for the school. Virginia scored the next 30 points including 17 in the second half.

The loss drops Miami to 3-4 in the ACC and 6-5 overall this year. It was the second loss in a row for the Hurricanes and came to a Virginia team that had lost four in a row.

Brad Kaaya was 20-33 for 263 yards and a touchdown. The quarterback also threw an interception. Kaaya had entered this game with nine touchdowns and one pick in his last four games combined. Phillip Dorsett caught the TD pass and it was his eighth touchdown reception of the year.

With under two minutes to play, UM got on the board again when Ladarius Gunter blocked a punt. Hugo Delapenha Jr. returned it nearly the length of the field for the TD. A subsequent two-point conversion try failed.

Duke Johnson picked up 88 yards on 15 carries. This was the first game since the first one of the year that the running back failed to reach the end zone. Johnson's longest rush of the day was for 26 yards and he also picked up 44 yards in the air.

Miami will take on the Pittsburgh Panthers next Saturday at Sun Life Stadium.
