Husband “Person of Interest” in Case of Missing Miramar Woman: Police

Vilet Torrez has not been seen since March 30

Miramar Police said for the first time Tuesday that they are calling the husband of a missing Miramar woman a person of interest in their investigation.

Vilet Torrez has not been seen since March 30, and the Florida Department of Children and Families temporarily removed their three children from the custody of her estranged husband, Cid Torrez, after a family member made a confidential call to the Florida Abuse Hotling fearing he would try to hurt himself or their children.

The kids are staying with their maternal grandmother.

Cid Torrez left a Broward courtroom in tears on the day a judge confirmed the decision to remove the children from his care. His attorney said then that "this is not fair treatment, there is no indication that anything untoward has happened to Mr. Torrez's estranged wife."

But Miramar Police now suspect foul play in the disappearance, a spokesperson said Tuesday.

No other information was immediately available.
