    Deadly Shooting Closes I-95 Near Boca Raton Wednesday

    NBC 6's Julia Bagg has more as officials search for the person who opened fire, killing one motorist shortly before 5 a.m.

    What to Know

    • Officers arrived at the scene just north of Yamato Road before 5 a.m. after reports of that shooting.

    • I-95 was closed between Linton Boulevard and Yamato Road as police and Florida Highway Patrol continued their investigation.

    Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed while driving on Interstate 95 near Boca Raton early Wednesday.

    The man was driving in the southbound lanes of I-95 when he was shot some time around 4:30 a.m., Boca Raton Police said.

    The man then crashed his car near a construction zone just north of Yamato Road.

    Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the scene and the man was taken to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

    Officials later identified the man was 29-year-old Edvin Milkevic, of Boca Raton.

    A section of I-95 southbound was shut down but re-opened to traffic several hours later.

    Police are investigating what led to the shooting.
