A man went to the emergency room to get treated for an eye wound. He left with a bottle of eye drops needed to treat the wound. But that visit came with a hefty price tag. His overall bill cost more than $2,700 out of pocket after insurance. But, $1,943 of the bill was for a small bottle of eye drops. A Davie man’s trip to the emergency room resulted in a hospital bill with a shocking item on it. He was charged nearly 50 times more for one prescription than he would have paid at the pharmacy. So, he called NBC 6 Responds. Sasha Jones reports.

Man Says Lyft Driver Pulled Gun on Him in Downtown Miami

A man is sharing his story to warn others after his Lyft driver brandished a gun, called him a homophobic slur and told him he wants to kill gay people. When the man noticed that his driver was not following the GPS route, he pointed it out to the driver and that’s when the driver allegedly used a homophobic slur, pulled a gun and made the threat. The driver eventually pulled over and let the man out of the car while hitting him. Lyft said they deactivated the driver permanently. Click here for the full story.

Miracle Child: 5-Year-Old on Road to Recovery After Suffering Stroke

A South Florida five-year-old has been through a lot after he had a rare medical emergency. After a series of tests and scans, doctors determined that the child had suffered a stroke and a brain bleed. He was diagnosed with Areriovenous Malformation, an abnormal tangling of blood vessels in the brain. The child was left nearly paralyzed. Consumer Warns About Pitfalls in Fiancing Program for Home Improvement Projects

More than 21,000 people in South Florida have financed a home improvement project using what’s known as the Property Assessed Clean Energy Program, or PACE. Consumers have financed more than $140 million in projects using the financing program. The money can be used to finance energy efficiency projects like air conditioning, solar panel and impact window installation.
