Ice Queen Gets Probation for Role in Meth Ring

Jupiter resident Nicole Bobek sentenced to five years' probation

Former figure skating champion turned meth distributor Nicole Bobek was sentenced to five years' probation Monday for her part in a massive drug distribution ring in New Jersey.

The 32-year-old Palm Beach County resident apologized during the sentencing in a Hudson County courtroom. She was arrested last July and extradited to New Jersey, then pleaded guilty in June to charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Bobek was one of 28 people charged in the organized ring that allegedly distributed as much as $10,000 worth of drugs per week. Bobek had been facing as much as 10 years in prison.

The leader of the drug network, Edward Cruz Jr., was sentenced last week to 16 years in prison.

It's been a long fall for Bobek, who was the 1995 United States Figure Skating champion and placed third in the World Championships that same year.

Her mother, Jana Bobek, who shares a Jupiter home with her daughter, said at the time of her arrest that the younger Bobek likes to "party" and fell in with the wrong crowd.
