Roach Killer Canister Prompts Scare on American Airlines Plane at MIA

A roach killer canister prompted a scare on an American Airlines flight that landed at Miami International Airport Wednesday afternoon.

A captain on a flight arriving from Belize City found what was intially thought to be a suspicious canister in the cockpit, but it was later determined to be a roach trapper, an American Airlines spokeswoman said.

The plane landed in the "penalty box" area of the airport as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue investigated the item. Passengers were evacuated as a precaution.

The plane was later deemed safe.
