Inmate Commits Suicide in Florida Panhandle Jail: Officials

Authorities are investigating after a 36-year-old inmate apparently committed suicide at a Florida Panhandle jail.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says the inmate was unresponsive in his cell when deputies responded to a medical call on Monday afternoon.

Officials haven't released many details about the death other than to say it is being investigated as a suicide.

Sheriff's officials haven't released his name, but say the inmate was booked into jail Dec. 3 on charges of DUI property damage and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
