Instruments Stolen From Miami-Dade Church

A house of worship was the target of thieves in Miami-Dade. Members of Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal arrived Friday morning to find the front doors had been broken open.

"They don't respect the church," that's how Pastor Orlando Barerra described the thieves who he believes have targeted the church more than once.

"Two or three times they came before," Barerra said.

In the past, he said car batteries have been stolen from vehicles parked in the lot, and this time the pastor said instruments were stolen from inside the church.

Residents in the area said the church does a lot for the community including feeding the homeless every week.

"That's what makes this upsetting. They are trying to do work in the community and then to turn around and have stuff stolen," said Ronald Lee, area resident.

Pastor Barerra said he learned about the stolen instruments early Friday morning and he, along with others who run the church, is worried.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
