Investigation Continues After Man’s Body Found Near Car in Northwest Miami-Dade

Police are investigating a possible homicide in Northwest Miami-Dade after finding a man's body laid out next to a car early Tuesday morning.

Crews responded to the scene near Northwest 31st Avenue and 75th Street before 5:30 a.m.

Police later identified the victim as 31-year-old Jimmy Naun Benitez Gonzalez. His body was found next to his Nissan Altima.

Surveillance video from near the scene showed a dark car driving by and a few moments later a figure is seen running off in the distance.

The man's loved ones are devastated over his death. "He was just a wonderful person. Somebody with a beautiful heart. Somebody with good intentions. He was like anybody else, looking for happiness and companionship," said Eddie Barraza, a friend of the family.

People who knew Gonzalez worry his death is a result of a hook-up gone wrong. "He'll go on social network websites looking for friends and companionship," said Barraza.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene, but officers would not say anything about how Gonzalez died. Authorities have not released details on a possible motive.
