It's Been ‘Bril

Dolphins want to sign former Cane Antrelle Rolle

NFL tight ends are shedding a tear today with the knowledge that Dolphins safety Gibril Wilson won't be letting them roam free in the middle of the field next season. At least not for this team.

The Dolphins are reportedly poised to dump Wilson, the team's top free agent signing last year, and pursue former University of Miami star Antrelle Rolle.

Wilson signed a 5-year, $27.5 million deal with Miami last year and promptly forgot how to cover, catch or tackle. It's hard to run with a tight end down the seam with heavy pockets.

Exposing Wilson didn't take long either. Try the first play from scrimmage on prime time Monday Night Football.

Pro Bowl tight ends Antonio Gates and Dallas Clark used Wilson's coverage skills to make their own personal highlight tape and New Orleans and TE Jeremy Shockey road Wilson to a comeback victory in the stadium formerly known as Land Shark.

Alvin Keels, Wilson's agent, announced on his Twitter account that the Dolphins were ready to cut ties with his client.

The tweet advertising his client's lack of skills and need for a new gig comes with a bit of sadness and optimism for tight ends in need of a stat boost.

Don't fret. Chances are Wilson will be on someone's roster next season.
