Jazz in the Gardens Kicks Off Weekend of Music & Culture

It's the official kick-off for Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival Thursday.

The City of Miami Gardens kicked off the annual event with its first conference on film, music, art and culture called FMAC. It featured a panel of experts from different fields, including Miami Heat Forward Chris Bosh.

NBC 6 anchor Jawan Strader had the honor of hosting the event Thursday at Florida International University Biscayne Bay campus.

The 12th annual Jazz in the Gardens concerts will be held at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday and Sunday. This year’s festival includes acts like Jill Scott, Robin Thicke, Smokie Norful, Andra Day, Common and Morris Day & The Time.
