Key West Drops Sunday Early Morning Booze Ban

City commission allows alcohol to be sold before noon on Sundays

Early morning drinkers in Key West are getting the go-ahead to sip on Mimosas and Bloody Marys on Sundays.

The city commission has voted to repeal the island's blue law, which previously prohibited booze sales between 4 a.m. and noon on the Lord's Day.

The booze ban will now only run from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily, giving folks in Key West 21 hours a day to chug-a-lug. The early Sunday alcohol sales go into effect this weekend.

Under the blue law, Key Westerners used to have to travel to Monroe County to buy alcohol before noon on Sunday.
