Key West Hosts 7th Annual Dachshund Walk New Year's Eve

Even the dogs get to party on New Year's Eve in Key West

About 200 dogs and their owners will take to the streets of downtown Key West on New Year's Eve for the seventh annual Dachshund Walk.

Some of the four-legged participants will walk in costumes while other older dogs will be pulled by their owners in wagons.

The parade route is short in order to cater to the needs of the short-legged breed.

If the dogs get tired, walk organizers plan to provide transportation for them. There will also be a supply wagon passing out water for the dogs and plastic bags for the owners to clean up after them.

Walk organizers welcome all dog breeds but the majority of the walkers will be Dachshunds.

Organizers also plan on strapping a camera to one of the participants to get a dog's eye view of the event.

The walk will begin Saturday at noon and take place on Fleming Street between Whithead and Duval.
