LT Gets Probation, Sex Offender Tag

NFL Hall of Famer and Pembroke Pines resident avoids jail in underage sex flap

Lawrence Taylor will have to register as a sex offender but avoided jail time during a sentencing Tuesday in New York for sexual misconduct for having sex with an underage prostitute.

The NFL Hall of Famer and Pembroke Pines resident was sentenced to six years' probation after pleading guilty back in January.

A judge refused to allow the girl, now 17, to speak during the sentencing. She was represented by attorney Gloria Allred, who said the girl wanted to read a victim-impact statement.

But the judge said victims are entitled to speak only at felony sentencings. Taylor pleaded guilty to misdemeanors.

Taylor, 51, will attend an April 12 hearing to determine what level of sex offender status will be assigned to him.
