MIAMI (AP) — A London man is attempting to row from Miami to New York.
Lewis Colam doesn't have a lot of rowing experience, but he says he wanted to do something more adventurous than the desk job he left behind in England. He's inspired by explorers James Cook and Sir Francis Drake, and by TV personality and survivalist Bear Grylls.
Colam plans to start his 1,400-mile journey Saturday.
Colam has dedicated his journey to raising money for Alzheimer's research. He'll blog about the trip at www.iamfinechallenge.org.
