Long Lines in Miami Beach for New iPhone

The wait is over for the newest iPhone, and some customers waited in line for 24 hours at the Miami Beach Apple store to get their hands on one.

Loyal Apple customers tell NBC 6 they found ways to pass the time as they waited for the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to hit shelves - even as it began to drizzle.

"Watch movies on our old phones, play cards, laugh giggle and play, there were actually dancers out here," said one customer.

"If we don't get out here early, this line - there's at least 100 people out here already. So if we don't get the phones, they're already going to be gone by 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock," said another customer.

The Miami Beach Apple store opened its doors at 8 a.m., and management said they expect an even larger turnout as they day progresses.

Analysts are expecting 12 to 13 million people will buy the latest versions of the iPhone this weekend, NBC news reported. Apple said pre-orders are expected to beat last year’s first weekend - the company sold 10 million iPhone 6’s when it first launched in 2014.
