After over a quarter century as a South Florida radio institution, one half of the famous "Paul and Young Ron" morning show is calling it a career.

"Young Ron" Brewer announced on Monday’s show that he will be leaving the daily show on WBGG "Big 105.9" on Friday, December 16th. In a statement, Brewer called it an "extended vacation."

"I’ll miss radio, but I’m looking forward to not being on a schedule after getting up at 3:30 a.m. all these years,” Brewer said in a statement. "I don’t have any specific plans, maybe I’ll buy an RV, but I’m going to enjoy life and fulfill some bucket list items."

Brewer and co-host Paul Castronovo began on what was then rock station WSHE 103.5 in 1990 before moving to another former rock station, WZTA "Zeta 94.9" five years later. In 2004, the duo moved to their current home and added several other stations through syndication across South Florida.

"It's certainly the end of an era; an unprecedented 26-year run for Young Ron and myself. We sure have had a lot of laughs over the years, and that's what it’s always been about," Castronovo said.

No announcement has been made on any possible replacements for Brewer.
