MDPD Receives Seven Seals Award from Military

Members of the Miami-Dade Police Department Airport Incident Containment team were given a prestigious recognition Wednesday for its dedication and support to U.S. troops returning from deployments overseas.

The MDPD team was awarded the Seven Seals national award Wednesday. The award is given out by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve or ESGR, which a part of the U.S. Department of Defense.

“They basically provide the warm reception and the honor that these veterans deserve once they come back from serving our country,” said Miami-Dade Police Director J.D. Patterson. “They come to this airport and they receive the families as well as the remains of veterans with honor and dignity and they do it consistently. It means a lot not only to our service members, but also to their families.”

Director Patterson also gave high praise to Miami International Airport’s aviation department and other agencies who work with the MDPD team to give the service members a welcome back that they will remember.

The Seven Seals award is available to any employers who go above and beyond in their work with service members. If you are in the National Guard or a military reservist and would like to nominate your employer, click here.
