Male Shot in Liberty City: MFR

A person was shot in the overnight hours Thursday outside a store in Liberty City, Miami Fire-Rescue confirms.

Sources tell NBC 6 that the victim was driven to Ryder Trauma after he was shot outside Miller's Complex grocery store located at 6804 Northwest 15th Avenue in Liberty City around 4:30 a.m.

Neighbor Greg Dixie was taking out the trash when he heard several shots ring

"Boom boom boom boom boom," Dixie said. "Next thing I know, I heard the police car. I was putting out the garbage and I just came to look, see if it was anybody I know."

Dixie says Miller's Complex is a local neighborhood grocery store. He says shootings are a fairly common occurrance in the area.

"I'm surprised every time, but it's kind of getting to be to the norm," Dixie says. "It happens frequently."

"I'm scared to come out sometimes, but you've got to live" he says.

Police have not released the identity or the condition of the shooting victim.

No further details were immediately available.
