A 19-year-old man is facing charges in a 2014 armed robbery in Miami Gardens that ended in murder.

Jose Adan Ramirez Jr. was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the June 6, 2014 shooting.

Ramirez appeared in court Thursday morning, where he was ordered held without bond and was appointed a public defender.

According to Miami Gardens Police, the victim was shot and killed during a robbery in the 17100 block of Northwest 42nd Place. Friends later identified him as Michael Miranda.

In July 2014, Ramirez was found in possession of a .45 caliber handgun, and testing later found a spent casing that was recovered at the crime scene was fired by the gun, according to an arrest report.

Ramirez later admitted to being acquainted with a man who had been seen searching the victim's pockets and said they were both at the scene the day of the murder, the report said.

Ramirez also implicated the other man in the robbery and murder of the victim but denied his participation in the crime, the report said. He was arrested in August 2014 for carrying a concealed firearm.

According to the report, a witness came forward in November 2015 and said Ramirez admitted to him that Ramirez had shot the victim and was involved in the robbery with the other man.
