Man Arrested After Driving Off, Dragging Trooper in Central Florida: Officials

Marcus Ryan Dallas was stopped Friday in Orange County, Florida for driving without his headlights on.

A Florida man was arrested after authorities say he drove off during a traffic stop with a trooper hanging from his car.

Media outlets report Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes says 25-year-old Marcus Ryan Dallas was stopped Friday in Orange County for driving without his headlights on.

Montes says Dallas exited his car to take a DUI test and to have his vehicle searched. Montes says Dallas attempted to drive away and a trooper reached into Dallas' car, trying to grab the keys from the ignition.

Dallas sped off with the trooper still partially inside the vehicle. The trooper was thrown from the car.

Dallas was apprehended and faces several charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

It isn't immediately clear if Dallas has an attorney.
