Man Arrested for Growing Red Hot Marijuana

Palm Beach man told cops the potted plants in his closet were not weed, but red peppers

A South Florida man's spicy response to police about his growing operation has landed him in hot water and we're talking red pepper hot.

Gregory Anthony Weiss, 44, has been charged with manufacturing marijuana after Palm Beach Gardens police officers found the illegal potted plants growing in his closet, an arrest report stated.

When asked what he was growing, Weiss told the cops he was growing red peppers.

Not quite accurate, a quick test revealed, the arrest report stated.

Police were called to Weiss' home Tuesday evening after a woman called for help with a domestic disturbance.

When cops met with Weiss about the disturbance, they noticed a florescent light coming from his closet, the report stated. That's when Weiss got culinary creative with his alleged weed-growing excuses.

He is being held in Palm Beach County jail on $24,000 bond. It was unclear if he had an attorney Wednesday.
