Man Arrested in Attempted ATM Robbery, Home Burglary in Doral: Police

A South Florida man who tried to rob a man at an ATM in Doral then broke into a nearly home in a failed burglary a short time later has been arrested, police said.

Steven Kiddy, 31, was arrested Monday on charges including attempted strong arm robbery, burglary of an occupied dwelling and burglary of an occupied conveyance, according to arrest reports.

The reports said Kiddy first tried to rob a man at the ATM at the Bank of America in the 9700 block of Northwest 41st Street shortly after midnight. He walked up and asked the victim for help, then told the victim to give him $100, the reports said.

"I have a gun. I have a gun. Don't make me use it," Kiddy told the man, according to the reports. When the victim tried to drive away, Kiddy got into the driver's side window and tried to grab the man's wallet but the victim was able to push Kiddy out of the car and drive away, the reports said.

About an hour and a half later, around 1:30 a.m., Kiddy was able to get into a home in the 9700 block of Northwest 45th Lane by going through the rear sliding glass door, the reports said. Kiddy went upstairs where the homeowner's daughters were sleeping and was confronted by the homeowner, the reports said.

A struggle ensued and the homeowner was able to hold Kiddy until police arrived, the reports said.

Kiddy was booked into jail where he remained without bond Tuesday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
