Miami Beach Police are investigating an incident where a man was caught on camera placing a skimmer on a credit card machine.
It happened Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. at a gas station located at 1453 Alton Road in Miami Beach.
Police said two men walked into the gas station and one of them engaged in conversation with the attendant. He then distracted her while the other subject placed a skimmer over the payment keypad located near the register.
The men then left the gas station on foot.
The next day, police were notified of the incident when the morning attendant discovered the skimmer after it became loose on the keypad. Officers responded and took the device into their custody.
After reviewing surveillance video, investigators are asking the public for help in identifying the two men seen in the video.

Police are encouraging the public to use EMV (chip) cards whenever available as this provides a secure encrypted transaction.
