Man Charged With DUI Manslaughter in Fatal Miami Crash

A man is facing charges after he tried to flee on foot from the scene of a deadly wreck in Miami Sunday, police said.

Alexei Mora Gonzalez, 36, is charged with DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving death in the wreck that happened at Northwest 57th Avenue and 7th Street, jail records showed.

Gonzalez was ordered held on $100,000 bond Monday. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.

Police said Gonzalez failed to stop at a red light and his SUV collided with a vehicle being driven by 29-year-old Tony Rodriguez Alvarez.

Footage from the scene showed the damaged SUV in the middle of the intersection and the second car in some nearby bushes.

Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue.

Gonzalez got out of his car and was seen by a witness running away from the scene, police said. A passerby also said he tried to enter her vehicle and asked for a ride, police said.

Police said Gonzalez also ran away from officers who spotted him in the area, but he was quickly arrested.
