Man Charged With Distributing Methamphetamine Disguised as Candy

A Tampa Bay area man will be facing criminal charges for allegedly conspiring to distribute methamphetamine disguised as candy.

Jesus Casteyano is charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, Casteyano and others distributed 500 grams or more of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine that was contained in and packaged as retail candy, and they had the intention to distribute more.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Casteyano made his first appearance in federal court Thursday and was detained pending trial. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years, and up to life, in federal prison.
