Man Charged in Pompano Beach Crash Into Home Appears in Bond Court

German Hueso, 30, faces multiple charges after Monday's incident

The 30-year-old man accused of driving a SUV into a Pompano Beach home and abandoning a 4-year-old girl remained in custody Tuesday night following an appearance in bond court.

German Hueso faces charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident and child endangerment for the Monday crash. He was being held in the Broward County Main Jail on $17,000 bond Tuesday night, but an “immigration hold” had also been placed on Hueso, meaning that he will not be released even if he posts bond, according to online Broward Sheriff’s Office records.

“The police say you had a strong odor of alcohol. Your speech was so mumbled and slurred three interpreters could not understand what you were saying,” Broward Circuit Judge John Hurley told Hueso in court.

The judge said Hueso's blood alcohol level was .208 Monday – or about two and a half times the state’s legal limit of .08.

The white 1998 Ford Explorer Hueso was driving slammed through a wall of an apartment at 333 SW 2nd St. in Pompano Beach, and he fled the scene, leaving his common law wife's 4-year-old daughter in the SUV, the BSO said.

Witnesses followed Hueso on foot before a BSO deputy took him into custody, according to the BSO.

The SUV was towed away Monday evening, but on Tuesday it was back, parked outside the home of Hueso’s common law wife.
