Man Dead After Shooting Near Club Space in Miami: Police

A man is dead after a shooting near Club Space in downtown Miami, according to the Miami Police Department.

"I was terrified for my life. I thought I was going to get shot," said Edwin Peralta, a witness to the incident.

Peralta said a handful of people were hanging outside of Club Space on Northeast 11th Street around 7:25 Sunday morning when the deadly shots rang out.

"Several gun shots, more than five. And they were really low," said Peralta.

Miami Police confirmed that a large fight broke out in the Club Space parking lot, not inside the venue. Homicide detectives swept the scene for clues and interviewed club patrons, waiting to pickup their vehicles.

"Subesequent to the fight, shots were fired, multiple shots were fired," said Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department.

The shooting victim was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, where he later died. It's unclear if the suspect and victim were inside the club prior to the argument. A motive for the gunman remains unknown.

"No arrests have been made. We're still going through surveillance videos to see if we can identify any of the suspects invovled," said Vega.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
