Man Dead After Shooting Outside 15th Street Market in Pompano Beach: BSO

Homicide detectives are investigating

A 23-year-old man is dead after a shooting in front of the 15th Street Market in Pompano Beach Monday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim, identified by authorities as Luis Jordan, got into a dispute with the suspect, who shot him before fleeing the scene, the BSO said.

Jordan was pronounced dead on the scene at 500 NW 15th St. by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, according to the BSO.

"And I saw one man, he was like, ‘Oh, you owe me my money.’ And I heard a couple gunshots," witness Toniqua Thomas said.

Witness Danique Hightower said the suspect went to a corner store, got a gun, and started shooting at the man when he returned.

The BSO initially said the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Georgia Grocery Store, and then amended that to say it happened in the same lot, but around the corner from the Georgia Grocery Store.

Jordan tried to run away but collapsed in a field near the store.

"Obviously, these two people seem to know each other and they got into some sort of dispute, so it wasn't a random shooting," BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said. "But evidently, whenever you have bullets flying, someone can get hurt."

Homicide detectives are investigating, and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, the BSO said.
