A domestic dispute ended with one man shot dead in an officer-involved shooting in Miami Sunday night.
Miami Police said around 1:30 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call of a violent domestic dispute at a home in the area of 24th Avenue and Southwest 3rd Street.
According to police, 59-year-old Carlos Yero was beating a woman who was not his wife at that location and had since left the scene. The exact relationship between Yero and the woman is not immediately known. As police were investigating, officials said Yero returned to the house and exchanged gunfire with officers.
Police then pursued Yero who drove a red SUV to the area of 30th Avenue and Southwest 4th Street, less than a mile away from the home where the alleged beating occurred. That's when officials said more gunfire was exchanged.
Surveillance video showed Yero exiting the red SUV holding a gun to his head, knocking on the door reportedly asking his wife to open. Moments later, police are seen swarming the home.
"My cousin called me on the phone and said that her husband had a problem and told her you'll probably never see me again. He then walked out the door normally and then she heard gunshots and saw him on the floor," said a relative of the victim.
According to police, Yero refused to drop his weapon and ignored officers verbal commands. Police say Yero pointed his gun at officers, forcing them to discharge their firearms.
"We have anywhere between two and four officers that have discharged their firearms. We're still sorting out, of the four officers, how many actually engaged the subject in gunfire," said Miami Police Chief Rodolfo Llanes.
Yero was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A woman at the first location also suffered injuries. Her current condition is not immediately known.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the shooting.
The officers involved have been reassigned to administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
