Emile Leon Senghor was arrested Monday and was held in jail without bond, according to online jail records.

Neighbors, who said they saw a man stab a woman, called 911 to report an altercation near La Salle Boulevard and Sable Palm Drive. Officers later found 38-year-old Shuneeque Shawntrell Jones dead on the ground.

"He looks like he just killed her. She's laying in the street. She’s still not moving," a caller told a 911 dispatcher.

A perimeter was established, and Senghor was eventually located with the help of his family. Miramar Police said Senghor not only matched witness description, but is also linked to the crime by evidence.

Shawntrell Jones was a mother of two and had a fiancé, her uncle Jerome Jones told NBC 6 South Florida.

Her family members, overwhelmed with pain, were screaming and crying at the scene. According to loved ones, the fiancé was present at the scene, but was too distraught to speak.

"It’s horrible, it’s horrible. I feel horrible for her family,” neighbor Diane Forte said.

Police said the motive is unknown.
