Man Fatally Shoots Girlfriend's Mom, Mom's Boyfriend in Homestead: Police

Police say a man was being questioned after he shot and killed his girlfriend's mother and the mother's boyfriend in Homestead Friday morning.

The shooting happened at a home in the 200 block of Northeast 12th Street, officials said.

According to Miami-Dade Police, David Fluitt, 31, and Deborah Ramos-Arce, 35, were involved in a verbal dispute that quickly turned physical.

At some point during the dispute, the 19-year-old boyfriend of Ramos-Arce's 17-year-old daughter shot and killed Ramos-Arce and Fluitt, police said.

The teen was being questioned, along with the 17-year-old daughter who was at the home, police said. His name hasn't been released and it's unknown what charges he may face.

Ramos-Arce and Fluitt have two young children together and Fluitt had two other young children who were all at the home at the time of the shooting, police said.

"Because we're dealing with young children we have to take the necessary precautions and take the necessary steps in order to question them adequately because again, you know, we have victim advocates that are going to be present working together with professionals in order to determine how do we approach these kids, how do we question them in order not to cause further damage," Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said.
