A man and a 2-year-old baby are recovering after police say the driver of an SUV struck the man as he crossed a Liberty City street with the child in his arms.

According to police, the incident occurred after 9 a.m. Thursday. The man was crossing Northwest Seventh Avenue while holding the baby when the driver of the SUV struck him.

Both the man and the child were transported to the hospital by Miami Fire Rescue. Their conditions are not immediately known, but sources tell NBC 6 that both are expected to be OK.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene. Police say it is too early to determine whether any charges will be filed.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
