Police Search for Suspect After Man Killed in Shooting on Miami Beach

Police said in addition to the usual Crime Stoppers reward, they're offering $5,000 for information leading to an arrest

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Miami Beach late Thursday night.

The shooting happened in the area of Espanola Way and Collins Court around 11:45 p.m., Miami Beach Police said.

Witnesses reported hearing two or three gunshots before seeing the man injured on the ground.

"All of the sudden a ton of cop car lights and they were like 'someone got shot,'" witness Tommy Strangie said. "I saw the guy on the ground...He was unconscious and we figured he was dead."

Police said the man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name wasn't released.

There was a large police presence at the scene early Friday while detectives investigated the shooting.

Police said the suspect, who they described as a black male in a hoodie, fled the scene in a four-door white sedan, possibly with a temporary tag with the number CC34319.

Police said in addition to the usual Crime Stoppers reward, they're offering $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone who sees the car is asked not to approach and to call police or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
