Man Injured in Trailer vs. Car Crash in Weston

The owner of a well-known South Florida air conditioning company is recovering following a serious crash on I-75 in Weston Monday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a tractor trailer missed his exit and began reversing on the interstate at the Royal Palm Boulevard exit.

A driver in a Mercedes Benz, identified as Eric Pereira, couldn't avoid the truck, and slammed into it, ripping open the passenger side.

FHP said Pereira is lucky to be alive, and that had someone been in the passenger seat, they likely would have died.

Pereira is the owner of the popular Around the Clock A/C Service company, based in Coral Springs. The company is known for its catchy advertisements featuring the slogan "Your Wife is Hot."

The driver of the tractor trailer was issued two citations for moving violations. He was not injured. It's unknown whether he'll face additional charges.

Pereira was admitted to the hospital and then released within an hour. He suffered a broken nose, and is doing okay, according to friends.

Three of four lanes of traffic on I-75 northbound at Royal Palm Boulevard were closed to traffic as police conducted their initial investigation.
