Man Punched Driver, Stole Car During University of Central Florida Football Game: Officials

Stranborough is not a student at the university

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the University of Central Florida Sunday after authorities say he punched a driver in the face and then made off with the vehicle.

Karl Wade Stanborough, of Jupiter, was held on $5,350 bond. He faces charges including robbery, grand theft, battery and resisting an officer without violence, according to online jail records.

Stranborough, who is not a UCF student, allegedly punched Rudy Jaramillio in the face "to force his way into the vehicle," according to the university. He was captured by UCF Police and Orange County deputies after he fled the vehicle and ran into woods.

Stranborough was transported to Winter Park Memorial Hospital for dog bites, officials said. Jaramillo, who was an employee of a contractor that staffs parking lots, was also taken to the hospital.

The alleged carjacking incident occurred during the second quarter of the football game against Southern Miss. Officials said most of the game attendants were not aware of the incident.

The Florida Highway Patrol was also involved.
