What to Know

  • Suzanne Davis Rogers found a Military Corps ring while vacationing on Siesta Key Beach on July 22.
  • After finding the ring, she posted photos of the lost piece of jewelry on Facebook, in hopes of finding the owner.
  • Just a few days later, the ring was reunited with its owner.

Suzanne Davis Rogers was vacationing on Siesta Key Beach when she noticed something glinting in the sand.

The mystery object? A ruby red Marine Corps ring, emblazoned with various inscriptions.

In a mission to find the owner, Suzanne posted photos of the lost piece of jewelry on Facebook.

“Friends will you please share this post?!” she wrote. “I found a Marine Corps ring on Siesta Key Beach today in Florida. I’m hoping to find the owner before we leave this week! Please share!”

More than 1,000 shares later, the lost ring was reunited with its owner.

Suzanne said Jaime Andrade, 22, is in the reserves and works full time as a surveyor.

“Super sweet guy!” she said on Facebook. “He also lost his rosary necklace that night :(,” she said on Facebook.

Jaime, who is from Tampa Bay, was originally supposed to graduate with Platoon 1041 on June 30th, Suzanne said. But he was hurt and it pushed him back two weeks. He graduated Platoon 2050 on July 14th, 2017, according to Suzanne.

After meeting up with Jaime (who she said doesn’t have a Facebook account) Suzanne said she treated him to a beer and a game of pool.

“Oh, and we are totally best friends now,” Suzanne said at the end of the post.
